Wer wurde damit noch nicht konfrontiert... Auch ich hatte letzte Woche mal wieder die Freude. An Aufklärung meinerseits oder wenigstens einer Diskussion war die Person (eine Betriebswirtin, Leiterin eines kleinen Teams in einem weltweit tätigen Konzern) allerdings nicht interessiert, ihr Steak war fertig. Gleiche Party, eine Stunde zuvor: "Und was machst Du so?" "Ich bin Soziologe und schreibe gerade an meiner Dissertation zum Thema xy." "Ach cool, Soziologie... Ich bin übrigens Architekt, und die Architektur ist ja auch die Verkörperung der Gesellschaft..." Der Fragende, ein selbständiger Architekt, hatte demnach ein vollkommen anderes Bild von der Soziologie. Er sah es auch mehr als interessantes Fach als unter dem Aspekt der Teilnahme an der Erwerbsarbeit. Mich würde interessieren, welche Reaktionen Ihr darauf bekommt, dass Ihr Soziologie studiert oder in Soziologie promoviert oder wie Leute darauf reagieren, dass Ihr als Soziologinnen und Soziologen nicht hinterm Lenkrad sitzt. Dabei finde ich natürlich interessant, wer wie reagiert. Ist das soziale Ansehen, nicht zu verwechseln mit einem Ansehen aufgrund persönlicher Merkmale. Besteht sowohl aus subjektiver Meinungsbildung als auch aus einer sozialen Strukturkomponente. Status ist die Position in der Schichtungshierarchie hinsichtlich eines bestimmten hierarchiebildendem Schichtungskrieteriums. Kann es eigentlich sein, dass man ein hohes Prestige aber niedrigen sozialen Status haben kann vice versa? Ich meine mir faellt die Abgrenzung dieser beiden Schuchtungseinteilungen nicht sehr leicht. Geiger nach unterschiedlichen Merkmalen gebildet werden, wodurch sich ergibt, dass sie einander überkreuzen, durchdringen oder auch überdecken. Jedoch gibt es in jeder Gesellschaft zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt ein Merkmal, das am meisten Chancen / Prestige verspricht und damit dominiert. Dieses bezeichnet Geiger als die dominante Schichtung (zu Zeiten von Marx z.B. die Produktionsverhältnisse). Geiger’s Modell berücksichtigt aber auch, dass sich diese dominanten Schichtungen im Zeitverlauf ändern können. Mit diesem dynamischen Modell ist es ihm möglich, verschiedene Gesellschaftsformen zu erklären. Geht es hier wirklich nur um ein Schichtungsmerkmal? Was waere denn das heutzutage? Hat jemand eine Ahnung? Gibt es aktuelle Studien dazu? Vielleicht kann mir ja jemand weiterhelfen und mir ein paar Beispiele nennen. Vielen Dank. Aus unserem Arbeitsskript ist das schwer eindeutig herauszulesen. Ich wuerde die Dimensionen als Kapitalstruktur und -volumen definieren (Strukturebene). Aber auch die Lebensstile spielen hier mit herein (Praxisebene). Dann gibt es aber auch noch den zeitlichen Faktor? Vielleicht kann mir jemand die Frage kurz und schmerzlos beantworten. Es gibt bei dem Konzept meiner Meinung nach zu viele Interpretationsmoeglichkeiten.... Vielen Dank. Das Problem ist, dass ich nicht weiss, ob ich einen Ländervergleich bzgl. dieses Themas aufstellen soll(vgl. Deutschland- Schweden/...) oder aber dieses Thema auf andere Phänomene beziehen soll (wie z.B. Hausarbeit ist Frauensache, Stereotype oder Segregation etc.). Ich würde mich freuen hier mit euch darüber zu diskutieren. Nun steht die erste Hausarbeit an, und ich machte mich mit Schwung daran. Doch plötzlich bekomme ich Selbstzweifel und denk, vielleicht schreibe ich hier auch großen Bockmist? Nebenher arbeite ich als Journalistin und es könnte sein, dass mir das Schreiben deshalb plötzlich so leicht fällt, es aber nicht mehr wissenschaftlich ist. Um es kurz zu machen: würde jemand, ca. in ein - zwei Wochen mal mein geschreibsel überfliegen und mir sagen, ob das geht oder GAR NICHT GEHT? Ich erwarte keine tiefergreifende Kommentierung! Aber es würde mir wesentlich besser gehen und vielleicht ist ja jemand neugierig? Viele Grüße PS: Mir war beim Schreiben schon immersehr wichtig, dass der Text eingängig und gut verständlich ist. Deswegen bringe ich aktuelle beispiele ein und schreibe eher essayistisch. Einige der Aufgabenstellungen möchte ich euch nicht vorenthalten. Theoretisches Sampling bedeutet ja, dass ich mein Sample nach der jeweiligen theoretischen Vorüberlegung auswähle (Methode des kontinuierlichen Vergleichs). Die Erhebungsmethode ist jedoch dem Sample angemessen (Gegenstandsangemessenheit), d.h. hier kann zum Beispiel das narrative Interview, das Leitfadeninterview, Beobachtung usw. dran kommen (Stichwort: Triangulation der Forschungsmethode). Mit diesem Sample fange ich dann zum "Kodieren" an und entwickle daraus meine zentralen Kategorien / Typen. Da das alles ziemlich theoretisch ist, würde ich dieses ganze Prozedere einmal anhand eines Beispiels und einer Forschungsfrage durchspielen. Was wäre denn hier eine geeignete Forschungsfrage?
